Beverly bike opened in 1921, and has had only 3 different owners during this time. In 1996, the store was purchased by Paul and Kathleen Weise, and renamed BEVERLY BIKE AND SKI. Paul’s past experience includes being a former employee of The Austrian Ski House and the head mechanic of the bike and skidepartments for Erehwon Mountain Outfitters.Paul’s vision is to keep people in the neighborhood biking, and get them more active during the winter months. The store rents and sells cross country skis and snowshoes. Along with doing complete bike mechanics on all brands of bikes, the store also offers full ski services for both cross country and downhill skis during the winter months. Additionally, the shop offers same day skate sharpening services.
Paul and Kathleen have been very involved in the cycling community, as is the staff of Beverly Bike and Ski through support of the local bike club and co-sponsorship of the BEVERLY BIKE-VEE PAK RACING Team. The shop is also a long time sponsor of the AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY WALK and ROLL, and is the main sponsor of the BEVERLY HILLS CYCLING CLASSIC.
The shop is managed by Brian Vargas, a Chicago native who isn’t afraid of potholes big and small. Starting in the non-profit sector of the bicycle industry, he learned to work with what he had or make what he needed. Brian is always ready to share his knowledge with cyclists both new and old so don’t hesitate to ask.
